Working as an entrepreneur who also happens to be a single mom, I rarely find time for myself. From when I wake up until I go to sleep, I’m always B U S Y!!
Needless to say, I was due for a little G E T A W A Y. So I decided to go to Palm Springs, CA and stay at the Sparrow’s Lodge.
The 20-room boutique hotel is 21+ which was the most amazing rule EVER. No kids allowed. The decor for the hotel is very modern & rustic. The rooms surround a lap pool, jacuzzi, communal barn, veggie garden, and firepit.
Coming from Orange County, Palm Springs is only a 90-minute drive. We got on the road a little late so we had a late check in Sunday night. We walked into the barn and were greeted by the receptionist/property manager. The hotel was very quiet but welcoming. The rooms are small but very nicely decorated. The exposed beams in the ceilings, the open rock shower, and private back patio made the room feel like an absolute getaway. They don’t have tv’s or phones in the room, which I liked. I’m the type of person who wants to unplug when I’m on vacation and E X P L O R E. I don’t understand why anyone would want to watch TV in the hotel room! But they do have internet, a necessity for the occasional email check.
After checking in, the fireplace was lit so we decided to pop a bottle of champagne that we picked up on the way. Since it’s 21+ they didn’t mind us bringing our own alcohol and walking the property (even though they do sell beer & wine).
The next day we ate a bomb breakfast at Elmer’s Restaurant, I had my absolute favorite thing; a german pancake. If you don’t know what that is, GOOGLE IT (or just click the link)! Then it was off to adventure. We decided to take the tram up to the top of the mountain and hike. BAD IDEA. I only brought workout clothes and it was uhhh SNOWING up there. So after having a bowl of soup and a coffee, we bounced.
After that snowy adventure, I needed to warm up by the fire. So I grabbed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from the barn bar and hung out by the fireplace. Best decision ever.
Upon checking out, we took advantage of the delicious D E L I C I O U S free continental breakfast. I guess they have it every morning. It was french press coffee, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt parfaits, pastries, and juice. The perfect start to the morning.
I loved staying at the Sparrow’s Lodge. The hotel is the perfect getaway if you’re looking for something mellow and relaxing. Next time I want to come when it’s not raining and I don’t have to run to the jacuzzi in my bikini in the pouring rain. But memories like that make the trip extra special.
Where is your favorite place to stay when you travel? I need more vacations in my life!!
