Woohoo! I am so excited to say good-bye to 2017 and hello to 2018.
Every year I set realistic resolutions and also create a detailed dream board. My resolutions are always about creating new habits while my dream board is all about the specific goals I want to achieve. Some of my resolutions are to stretch every morning, practice more self-care, plan more “me time”, read a book a month, listen to more podcasts, and arriving at least 10 minutes early to everything I do.
In 2018 I am really focusing on what feels right for me to do rather than what I feel like I should be doing. In 2017 I learned a lot about myself. I don’t write this for pity or sorrow, but I write it as a fact. The people I associated with in 2016 molded me into a person I wasn’t very proud of. Not in a dangerous way or a pitiful way but I completely lost my backbone and lived to serve everyone around me. I would go out of my way every time for people who wouldn’t take two steps for me. In 2017, I regained my sassy, confident personality, and I look forward to seeing where I go.
I grew up in the gym conditioning for all the teams I played for. I participated in dance, cheerleading, tennis, and track & field. Being in the gym and lifting weights is what I knew. I also spent the last two years as a certified personal trainer, motivating others to love the gym too. I still love the gym but in 2018 I want to change it up. I’ve been doing the same gym routine for 10+ years. I plan on taking advantage of beautiful Orange County by going on more hikes and walking the beach. I also want to shake it up and see how my body responds to a consistent regiment of pilates and yoga. After my two back surgeries, my doctor tried to push pilates and yoga on me to help with the pain. Yoga is amazing for stretching out muscles that cause pain and pilates is amazing for strengthening those slow twitch muscles in your lower body and giving you great stability. I tried yoga but was intimidated by the pilates reformer. So in the spirit of practicing more self-care, I am investing in myself with yoga and pilates. Plus, I hope to look BOMB for my wedding, so that helps too!
I always find it SUPER hard to get back into the swing of things after the holidays. My mind is all ready to get going but my body is like, “uhhh you just spent 3 weeks stuffing me with desserts, red wine, and laying on the couch. Now you expect me to move?!” So motivation and preparation are key to get my body as ready as my mind is. I usually buy a new pair of workout shoes, commit to a Groupon fitness pass, and throw out all the really bad treats in my pantry.
I’m more likely to go workout if I’m all ready to go, so I’m living in workout gear for a while. One product that I found, Win Detergent, works wonders on cleaning my workout clothes. I’ve been using Win for a few months now and this is why I love Win Detergent:
- It takes the stinky out of my workout clothes but is still safe to use on all my fashion clothes too.
- Win is on Amazon and ships free with Amazon Prime —> Win on Amazon
- Win is free and clear of all dyes and fragrances, so I feel safe using it on Cash’s clothes too
- I don’t have to do separate loads anymore. I had to do whites, darks, gym gear. Now I can just add my gym gear to the regular loads
What are some of your New Year’s Resolutions? Do you make a dream board? I’d love to connect more with my readers in 2018, so please drop me a comment!
