I’ve been writing a lot about finding you side hustle and making extra income when you need it most. But I haven’t addressed the underlying issue: your mind. Adding a side hustle to your life to make extra income might sound good but if your mind isn’t right, that sounds impossible. If you already have a job, have kids, and other responsibilities, staying productive enough to add a side hustle will seem like a task in itself. You might be able to find time and mental power to start the side hustle, but do you have what it takes to build it day in and day out?
Have you ever felt mentally drained?
I’ll admit, I have days where my brain isn’t functioning properly. I feel this “mental hangover” from working so much. Mental burnout feels like my brain was physically run over by a Mack truck. It’s hard to focus, I can’t think straight, and I feel like I’m in a fog. Now how is anyone supposed to get anything done that way?! But knowing that I worked so hard on my side hustle, I can’t leave it alone for too long. Otherwise more work will pile up. When everything piles up then it seems like an even bigger task to attack. That’s when most people quit: when things seem too hard to accomplish. So that’s why I’m talking all about your mind and the things you can do to prevent mental burnout.
In The Morning…
Mornings are the building blocks for a great day. What you do in the morning really sets the tone for your entire day. If you wake up with just enough time to get out the door, your entire day will feel rushed. Or if you wake up ungrateful and unexcited to seize the day, your day will be boring and unambitious. Starting your morning off right is key to being uber productive and being mentally on point.
To have a productive morning, you need to first get a good night’s rest. The standard is 8 hours but I don’t think that’s necessary. I can function just fine off 7 hours of sleep; all depends on the quality of your sleep at night.
Next you want to give yourself enough time to wake up and organize your day.
You’re cheating yourself out of a lot if you roll out of bed, lack-luster get ready for work, get to work, play catch up at work, all while mentally waking up. Every morning I wake up 2 hours before I have to do anything. This gives me enough time to wake up. I put my Niraxx Smart Headband on, brew a pot of coffee, and plan my day. I bullet out all the things I need to do for the day. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m the queen of multi-tasking. My Niraxx Smart Headband has been a game changer for me.
As a busy mom on the go, I always wished for an “easy” button. Well, the Niraxx Smart Headband is my easy button. Built with Near Infrared Light, my Niraxx Smart Headband naturally stimulates my brain cells so that I wake up faster and start being productive faster. Niraxx is pioneering flexible electronics in textiles – the circuit technology is printed directly into the fabrics. It’s even washable for all those uses after a sweat sesh and during flu season. The comfortable, fashion forward device allows me to get Cash ready for school and even drive him to school without looking like I’m wearing a medical device.
Let’s Talk More About Niraxx
Niraxx is a ground-breaking device that helps users reduce stress, increase productivity, and relax faster. Sounds too good to be true, right? Wrong. Niraxx works naturally with your body using infrared light technology to stimulate or relax your brain. It is non-invasive, doesn’t interfere with your current medications, and won’t make you codependent. The Niraxx Smart Smart Headband is Bluetooth connected to its companion app and has two main settings: calming and relaxing (using alpha brain waves) and focus and performance (using gamma brain waves).
Niraxx is partnered with Massachusetts General Hospital and can be used up to 20 minutes every day. So for me, I like using the gamma wave program for 10 minutes in the morning to wake me up and boost my productivity and then 10 minutes of the alpha wave program at night to relax my mind from a long day. The FDA has approved numerous near infrared light therapy medical devices, so I love that I can trust the science to help me perform at my optimal levels.
Setting Myself Up For Another Productive Day
Productivity correlates a lot with consistency. If you continue to repeat the same patterns day in and day out, you build strong habits that will keep you productive. Building your side hustle is a marathon, not a sprint. You need to make each day about optimizing your potential and not burning yourself out. To avoid mental burnout, I give myself guidelines to balance my work/life.
I make sure not to work past 6pm and hardly work on the weekends (unless it’s attending events with my family). Working for myself, it’s very easy to let work consume my every waking hour. Setting “work” time from 8am – 6pm causes me to focus on the tasks at hand and compartmentalize my work. Also, not working weekends was a total game changer in not feeling burnt out.
Relaxing is also another way to keep from burning out. By clocking out at 6pm, I remove work from my mind and allow myself to relax. I eat dinner with my family, do bathtime, homework, and bedtime. Yoga and meditation are great ways to relax, except ain’t nobody got time for that! That’s why I split my Niraxx time in two so I can use it at night to relax my mind. If I didn’t have Niraxx I would toss and turn all night because all the to-dos would pop into my mind. Then starts the vicious cycle of poor sleep, groggy mornings, and unproductive days. With Niraxx, I relax quicker, sleep better, and have more productive days.
