First off, I think one of the main reasons a lot of you follow/like me is because I keep it real. Which is very true. The other few of you might really just like my butt (cue the sarcasm). In a sense, I’m very transparent with you all. I believe it’s key to building lasting relationships and longevity in a very staged industry. So this post, while it’s hard to write because it’s not the normal vibe of blogs I post. I believe it’s necessary to share with you all what I’m going through. It will bring even more validity to how I keep a positive mindset and work damn hard to keep it going.
Let me preface this whole story by saying, I’m not a swimmer. “What does she mean by that,” you might ask? I say that because I’m not entirely sure what it feels like to physically drown but in the realm of the real world – I’m completely drowning.
We Can’t Control Life All the Time
It’s been a rough year for me to say the least. After getting engaged to the man I was dating for 5 years, we found out I was pregnant. It honestly was no big thing. We were already planning on getting married, so why not? I’m a big believer in fate and when something is supposed to happen, it will happen. We can’t control life any more than we can control the wind. Long story short, we hit a lot of big obstacles that first year and recently decided to call off the relationship. We still have a great friendship and focus on making the most out of it.
So the result of that decision lead me to have more bills, stress and overall emotionally drained. Not to mention this wasn’t the life I ever imagined for myself. As of now I’m working 6-7 small jobs and trying to be the best mom I can be. Even though I’m working my butt off, I haven’t stopped chasing my dreams. I don’t believe I’ve reached my true calling and I will still do whatever it takes to achieve that; which means less sleep, longer days, and being a kick ass scheduler!
Just Keep Going
All I can say to you all is KEEP going. I’m not writing this for sympathy, I’m writing it for empowerment. Whatever you’re going through will pass. You will be a stronger person for having gone through the tough times. I’m in the cut of it right now, it wasn’t easy to write this but if I can help just one person who’s going through a rough time, it was worth it.
There are two kinds of people in the world.
- Unsuccessful people who let their problems run their lives
- Successful people who KEEP ON SWIMMING even when they don’t know which way is up. As long as you keep on moving, you won’t drown.
Refuse to fail. Refuse to give up on yourself.
